Old Work Graveyard Part 4

Here we are again, old work out new work in. Anyone reading one of these for the first time, this is basically the place where I put projects that have to be taken off the website in order to make space for the new ones.

Oakies Kitchen

At the time this was probably one of my favourite brands to work on. I became friends with Mr. Oakie, who set the company up after a long trip to Canada. It’s here where he first stumbled across the legend that is Poutine. For all those who haven’t had Poutine you are missing out, it’s amazing. He took poutine and married it with Greedy Little Pig’s pulled pork, it was a match made in heaven.

When the time came for Oakies to expand into serving a full American inspired comfort food menu I couldn’t of been more excited. Sadly the brand name has now gone, however the brand still exists currently under the name of Five Bar & Kitchen in Huddersfield.

Oakie’s food kitchen serves the best American style comfort food and sources the best local ingredients Yorkshire has to offer. I was approached by Oakie’s to develop a mature brand identity that was an advancement from their old identity without totally leaving the old one behind. Oakie’s wanted brand identity that had the feel of Americana BBQ without been too obvious or stereotypical, they also wanted the identity to be fun and appealing to both foodies and the general public.

Brazil 2014 at Belgrave

A quick poster design for Belgrave Music Hall which slowly became one of my favourite designs. I was asked to create an event poster and a brand for the Brazil 2014 World Cup games shown at Belgrave Music Hall & Canteen. Belgrave were showing the games across three floors, including a roof top terrace showing and also serving traditional Brazilian street food. The poster was then animated by Damon Stead – www.damonstead.com

I tried to emulate the colours from Brazilian street art murals and tie it in with the strong bold vector lines of my style. I liked it.
